HUMBOLDT USA premiered at Visions du Réel and First Look

G. Anthony Svatek’s essayistic and observational documentary about American nature and technology, and the legacy of 19th c. ecologist Alexander von Humboldt, recently had its world premiere at Visions du Réel, on Earth Day!

We had an incredible time at the festival with great screenings. Visions du Réel has immediately become one of my favorite festivals - incredible programming, good people, fantastic venues, plus karaoke, cheese, and a side-quest to a sauna on the lake.

The world premiere was quickly followed by screenings at AFO and then its North American premiere at Museum of the Moving Image’s First Look - where we played to a packed theater, and had a brilliant Q+A moderated by filmmaker David Osit.

The film’s been getting great attention in the press, including write-ups in Reverse Shot, Screen Slate, Modern Times, International Cinephile Society, and a clip exclusive in The Hollywood Reporter
